Inner Tubes 1500×600-635 for MAZ-543 “Uragan” Heavy Truck

Keep your beast rolling – proper inner tubes for the legendary Soviet 8×8

The tubes that belong inside those massive VI-203 tyres

So you’ve got a MAZ-543. Or you’re restoring one. Or maybe you just picked up a set of those legendary VI-203 tyres and realized – damn, I need proper tubes for these monsters.

Well, here they are. Inner tubes in size 1500×600-635, specifically designed for the MAZ-543 “Uragan” and its massive rubber. These aren’t your everyday passenger car tubes – these are heavy-duty units built to handle the punishment of a 22-tonne Soviet missile carrier bouncing through Siberian mud.

Why proper tubes matter

Look, you could try to bodge something together with tubes that are “close enough.” We’ve all been there. But when you’re dealing with a truck that weighs over 20 tonnes empty and was designed to carry ballistic missiles across some of the world’s worst terrain, “close enough” isn’t really good enough, is it?

The MAZ-543 was engineered with a Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS) that lets you adjust pressure on the fly. Drop it down for deep sand or mud, pump it back up for highway driving. But that brilliant system only works properly when you’ve got the right tubes inside those tyres. Wrong tubes mean air leaks, pressure loss, and eventually a very expensive problem in the middle of nowhere.

Plus, let’s be honest – if you’re going through the effort of keeping a MAZ-543 operational, you want to do it right. These trucks deserve respect, and that means proper equipment.

What you’re getting

These are heavy-duty inner tubes manufactured to handle the specific demands of the 1500×600-635 tyre size. They’re built with thick rubber walls that can withstand:

  • High load capacity – supporting vehicles weighing up to 25 tonnes fully loaded
  • Variable pressure operation – working reliably whether you’re running at 2.5 bar for mud or 4.5 bar for highway
  • Extreme conditions – from Arctic cold to desert heat, just like the MAZ-543 itself
  • Rough treatment – because off-road driving isn’t exactly gentle on equipment

Each tube features a heavy-duty valve stem designed to work with military-spec inflation systems. No flimsy passenger car valves here – these are built for trucks that were meant to survive combat conditions.

Specifications:

  • Size: 1500×600-635
  • Application: MAZ-543, MAZ-7310, MAZ-543A, MAZ-543M and related variants
  • Valve type: Heavy-duty military-spec valve stem
  • Material: Thick-wall butyl rubber for maximum durability
  • Pressure range: 2.5 – 5.0 bar (depending on load and terrain)
  • Load rating: Suitable for vehicles up to 25 tonnes gross weight

Compatibility

These tubes are designed specifically for use with:

  • VI-203 tyres in size 1500×600-635
  • MAZ-543 “Uragan” heavy trucks (all variants)
  • MAZ-7310 civilian chassis versions
  • MAZ-543A with increased payload capacity
  • MAZ-543M single-cabin variants
  • Other Soviet/Russian 8×8 heavy trucks using the same tyre size

If you’re running one of these magnificent beasts, these are the tubes you need.

A word about the MAZ-543

Since we’re talking about tubes, let’s talk about what they’re going inside. The MAZ-543 “Uragan” (Hurricane) is one of the most impressive pieces of Soviet military engineering ever produced. Introduced in the early 1960s and first publicly displayed at the Red Square parade in 1965, this 8×8 monster was specifically designed to transport and launch ballistic missiles.

Powered by a massive 38.9-litre V12 diesel producing 525 horsepower, equipped with automatic transmission, independent torsion bar suspension on all eight wheels, and that brilliant Central Tyre Inflation System – the MAZ-543 could go places that would stop almost anything else on wheels.

These trucks carried Scud missiles across Eastern Europe, Smerch rocket launchers through the Middle East, and S-300 air defense systems from the Baltic to the Pacific. Over 4,000 were built, serving not just in the Soviet military but exported to dozens of countries around the world. Some are still operational today, more than 60 years after the first prototype rolled out of the Minsk Automobile Plant.

And every single one of them relied on proper inner tubes to keep those massive tyres inflated and functional. These tubes we’re selling? They’re part of that legacy.

Condition & Availability:

We stock both new old stock (NOS) tubes and quality used tubes that have been inspected and tested.

New tubes: Manufactured decades ago but never installed. They’ve been properly stored in climate-controlled conditions. These are increasingly difficult to find – Soviet-era heavy truck parts aren’t exactly being produced anymore.

Used tubes: Removed from serviceable tyres, inspected for damage, and tested for air retention. All used tubes we sell are in good working condition – no patches, no weak spots, ready to install and use.

Current stock: Limited quantities available

These tubes are becoming harder to source every year. The MAZ-543 hasn’t been in production since 2000, and the supply chain for parts is slowly drying up. If you need them, don’t wait – they won’t be getting easier to find.

Installation notes

If you’re installing these yourself (and let’s be honest, if you own a MAZ-543, you’re probably pretty handy with tools), here are a few tips:

  1. Use plenty of tyre lubricant – these are big, stiff tyres and you don’t want to pinch the tube during installation
  2. Check the rim carefully – any sharp edges or rust can damage the tube, so clean and prep the rim properly
  3. Inflate gradually – start at low pressure to seat everything properly, then bring it up to operating pressure
  4. Don’t overinflate – follow the MAZ-543’s pressure specifications for your load and terrain
  5. Inspect regularly – with the CTIS system, you can check pressures frequently, so do it

Of course, if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, any truck shop with experience in heavy commercial vehicles should be able to handle it. Just make sure they understand these are military-spec tyres and need to be treated accordingly.
