Close your eyes for a second. Radioactive dust in the air, visibility near zero, something large moving in the shadows. Your filter is holding. You are breathing.
Thatโs the GP-7 โ and youโve probably been staring at it for years. On dead stalkers across the Zone. In the rubble of Metro 2033. In your Escape from Tarkov inventory, where a digital copy costs you 68,000 roubles. This is the mask the entire post-apocalyptic look was built on. And now you can own the genuine article, in black, straight from sealed Cold War storage in Poland.
But hereโs the part nobody else selling these will tell you.
The thing Soviet leadership never bothered to fix
The GP-7 wasnโt an army mask. It was a civilian one โ Grazhdanskiy Protivogaz, โcivilian gas maskโ โ handed out by the millions to factory workers, civil-defence volunteers and ordinary people who were simply expected to seal one over their face when the sky fell.
There was just one problem. The original Soviet filters contain asbestos โ a confirmed lab analysis put the figure at roughly 7.5% white asbestos. And asbestos doesnโt forgive. Once those microscopic fibres are inhaled, they lodge permanently in your lung tissue and stay there for life, where over the years they can cause serious, incurable disease โ including lung cancer and mesothelioma.
So the Soviet state strapped an asbestos hazard to the faces of its own civilians and, for decades, the leadership never did a single thing about it. Nobody up the chain ever fixed it.
We did.
A free modern filter โ because you shouldnโt have to choose between authentic and safe
Every GP-7 we ship comes with a free modern NATO-standard filter โ expired, but completely safe to handle. No asbestos. Nothing waiting in your display cabinet or your prop bag to quietly do you harm years down the line.
You still get the original filter too โ but purely as a display piece, to keep the set complete and authentic-looking. It stays on the shelf, sealed, never on your face. The free NATO filter means you never have a reason to put the old one anywhere near your lungs. Best of both worlds: the genuine, complete look and your health intact.
Weโre not aware of anyone else on the market doing this. Most sellers hand you the original, asbestos and all, and let you find out the hard way. We think thatโs the wrong way to treat the people who keep this history alive.
What you get
- Genuine black GP-7 gas mask โ excellent NOS / near-NOS condition, supple rubber, clear panoramic lenses, so it looks the part on a shelf and on your face
- A free modern NATO-standard filter โ expired but safe, no asbestos, ready to mount for display or cosplay
- The original filter โ included for display only, to keep your set complete (see safety note โ contains asbestos, never to be worn or breathed through)
- The original carry bag โ grab-and-go for events, or part of the display
- One universal size โ a large adjustment harness at the back fits virtually any head, so thereโs nothing to measure and nothing to get wrong
Who this is for
Collectors โ this is the real object, not a tired car-boot relic and not a replica. Honest condition, real provenance, and the one piece every Eastern-Bloc collection should have.
Gamers, cosplayers and prop builders โ the single most recognisable Soviet-era gas mask in existence. If you want to look like you just walked out of the Exclusion Zone, a Metro tunnel or an ArmA server, this is the actual object the games were built around โ same rubber, same hardware, same weight and feel.
Questions, answered
Is this mask safe? The mask itself is safe to handle and display. The hazard is only in the original filter, which contains asbestos โ thatโs exactly why we include a free modern NATO filter and tell you to keep the original sealed and never wear it.
Can I actually wear it / use the filter for protection? Wear it as a prop or for display, yes. But this is a vintage collectorโs item โ the included NATO filter is expired and not for genuine chemical, biological or dust protection. Donโt rely on it to actually filter anything.
What size do I need? Just one โ itโs universal. The large rear harness adjusts to fit virtually any head, so thereโs no sizing to figure out.
Is it really original? Yes โ a genuine GP-7 in NOS / near-NOS condition from sealed Polish stocks. Not a reproduction. What you see in the photos is representative of the stock we ship.
Where do you ship? From Jarocin, Poland โ across Germany and most of the EU in 7โ10 working days, worldwide on quote. Personal collection welcome (โ230 km from Frankfurt/Oder, A2/E30).
Get yours before theyโre gone
Weโve got a limited run of these โ only 27 left at โฌ69.99, each with the free safe NATO filter included. When theyโre gone, theyโre gone.
